Extreme Weather Tests YES TECH MT at Antonis Remos’ 30th Anniversary Concert

On September 12, 2026, Greek singer Antonis Remos marked 30 years in music with a free outdoor concert at Thessaloniki’s New Waterfront. More than 300,000 people attended the event, which Greek media described as one of Greece's largest concerts.

D&P Audiovisual used 640 sqm of YES TECH LED displays: 380 sqm of MT P3.9–7.8 and 260 sqm of MG9 P3.9. For the main stage, three MT video walls were installed directly in front of the statue of Alexander the Great at Thessaloniki’s New Waterfront, giving the transparent LED display a particularly distinctive role in the show.

MT Keeps the Landmark in View

Remos grew up in Thessaloniki, so bringing his 30th anniversary celebration back to his hometown gave the event a strong local connection. The stage was built around the statue of Alexander the Great, with three MT video walls: a 23m × 9m main screen and two 9m × 9m side screens. With around 50% transparency, MT allowed concert visuals to run across the screens while the statue remained clearly visible behind them. This created a stage where the LED content and the landmark could coexist throughout the show. For a celebration held in Remos’ hometown, keeping the statue visible also preserved the connection between the performance, the city, and its surroundings.

Then the Weather Turned

The real challenge came shortly before the concert. Heavy rain began at around 18:00, followed by a sudden deterioration in the weather. The floor truss bracing the MT screen broke, and the screen was blown around for about 15 minutes. With the show still to come, D&P Audiovisual feared that some panels might not come back online:

“To be honest, I was expecting many panels to be off, but all worked!”

MT is designed around the practical demands of rental and outdoor applications, combining a lightweight structure with a robust frame and IP65 protection. In this case, those design features were put to a real-world test as the team worked to bring the system back to full operation. D&P Audiovisual described what happened:

“We suffered a sudden weather change, and winds picked up. The floor truss we used for bracing broke, and the screen was flying for 15’. We had a power cable, a Cat6 cable, and a signal loop cable cut; we changed these, and after 2 hours, the show started with all panels working great! To be honest, I was expecting many panels to be off, but all worked! ”

The concert successfully started shortly after 21:30, with all LED panels working normally. The overall stage presentation was well received, with Greek media describing the event as an impressive outdoor musical spectacle.

D&P Audiovisual gave MT high praise for its performance under extreme weather conditions.

This was not MT’s first demanding coastal deployment. On an earlier DIFF project, the display was used for six weeks in a coastal environment, exposed to salt spray, rain and sun, and maintained stable visual performance on the event day.

From long-term coastal use to a sudden severe weather event just hours before a major concert, these projects reflect the kind of conditions LED displays can face outside controlled environments. For YES TECH, the goal is not simply to deliver high-quality visuals, but to provide LED display solutions that can be relied on when the conditions on site become unpredictable.
